Come Celebrate Earth Day at EBMS on Saturday April 27!, Saturday, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM (Panther Lair)
Show your Panther PRIDE and come celebrate Earth Day at our 10th Annual EBMS Earth Day Event on Saturday, April 27 from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM! We are expanding and making improvements to the Panther’s Lair located in the courtyard (right next to the entrance to the gym). Over the years, we’ve transformed the area once known as “The Pitt” into a beautiful art installation – made more lovely over the years by plantings, iron sculptures, and the new mosaic Panther. We plan to expand the project on Earth Day, and need your help weeding, planting, mulching, and painting. In particular, the kids love to plant, shovel mulch, and paint, so please encourage yours to attend along with you or another adult. And if you can’t make it, please leave them with us for a few hours and we’ll give them a fun job that they can complete on their own. If you have younger ones, don’t hesitate to bring them along as they can help in many ways that they enjoy, and there’s plenty of space in the courtyard for them to play when they are ready for a change of pace. If you have questions, please contact Tyrone Perry at tyroneperry@att.net or Kathy DeRosas at kathyderosas@gmail.com. Thanks, and go Panthers!

“How to Raise a College Bound Student and Prepare Your Student for the College Admissions Experience,” Tuesday, May 21, 6:30 PM (Panther Playhouse)
Please mark your calendars for our last general association meeting of the year, “How to Raise a College Bound Student and Prepare Your Student for the College Admissions Experience.” This discussion will be led by Sharon Cravanas, a College Admissions Guidance Professional located in Alameda. In her over 30 years of providing college admissions guidance, Sharon has come to understand that the sooner we get parents educated about expectations and requirements for success in high school and college, the better prepared the child will be. Sharon’s experience includes 8 years as Associate Director of Admissions and Director of Minority and Transfer Admissions at Mills College; 16 years as Director of College Counseling at Head Royce School; and the last 5 years with various charter schools and the KIPP Foundation helping to create college admissions programs. Sharon is currently Assistant Principal and Director of College Counseling at KIPP King Collegiate High School in San Lorenzo, CA. Among other volunteer work, Sharon also serves on national committees for diversity and professional development with the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), and the National Association of College Admissions Counselors (NACAC). The meeting will be held in the Panther Playhouse on Tuesday, May 21, 6:30 PM. We look forward to seeing you there!
