Summer Music Camp in Berkeley, June 24-28
     Dear Parents and Guardians,
I wanted to let you know about an amazing Summer music camp that runs June 24-28 in Berkeley. This day camp for 7-15 year olds is sponsored by the San Francisco Early Music Society (www.sfems.org), and will be held at School of the Madeleine, Berkeley. We offer instruction in recorder, harpsichord, viola da gamba, cello, violin, and viola; chamber ensembles, musicianship, and Renaissance and Baroque dance. We have some of the finest musicians in the country on our faculty – this is an amazing experience for children interested in music!
We work all week on a theater production that brings the work of the classes together: music, dance, and drama! We have plenty of outdoor time, as well as a crafts class.
Camp begins with a faculty concert and orientation on Sunday, June 23rd at 6:00 PM, and commences with classes on Monday, June 24th. Classes go from Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with the final concert and theater production on Friday, June 28th at 6:00 PM, followed by a potluck feast. After-camp care is available.
You can download the brochure at http://www.sfems.org/mdw13.shtml, where online registration is also possible.
Please feel free to email myself or the director, Tish Berlin, directly if you have any questions. The cost for the week is $440. We have some financial assistance available, please inquire. Beginners are welcome, though strongly encouraged to have lessons on their chosen instrument a couple of months before the workshop starts. Please call for teacher suggestions.
     Sincerely,
