Want more exercise in your life?
Get fit and raise money for our school at the same time! Join us for the 9th annual Ride for a Reason on Saturday, April 29, 2017 with training rides that start in January. Riders are fellow Oakland parents, students, and community members who rally together for this beautiful bike ride.
Our kick-off registration party will be Friday night, December 2, 6-8pm at Tip Top Bike Shop during first Friday Art Murmur. We’ll have music, snacks, and early bird registration for the ride. We’d love to answer questions about the ride and talk about the training schedule.
This year, we have three rides to choose from: 45, 60, and 109 miles. We provide all the support you will need to go the distance on April 29th, including training rides and coaching which starts in January.
Ride for a Reason is an annual bike ride from Oakland to Sacramento to draw attention to the ongoing K-12 education funding crisis, and also to raise funds for school enrichment programs. Last year, 260 riders pedaled to Sacramento and raised $106,000 which was shared by six local public schools. Our school got a a check for $16,400 from our participation in the bike ride!
We encourage all riders to raise $250 or more in pledges, but the only real requirement is to ride. To get more detailed information or to register, check out r4rschools.com or come to our kickoff party.
