This year the 8th graders worked with Generation Citizen to complete their civic engagement project for History Night. Generation Citizen is a non-profit organization that supports several classrooms across the Bay Area in becoming more civically engaged. They held Civics Day, a competition where several Bay Area classes present their civic engagement projects and compete for awards. Edna Brewer sent 22 students representing 6 eighth grade classrooms. Ms. Jones had several judges and teachers personally come to her and praise the great work.

The hard work paid off!  1st period class won the highest award for Best Overall Project for a gun and gang violence project, and the 8th period class won the award for “Student Choice” for a project on homelessness and affordable housing. We were the only school to bring home 2 awards! Please show love to all the students who represented with amazing professionalism, charisma and PRIDE! Go Panthers! Go History! Go 8th grade!
