November 8th 9th and 10th any take out or dine in sales will generate income to Edna Brewer. Please consider taking your family to dinner on one of those nights! Let them know that you are from Edna Brewer so that your sale will help our community.
Our teachers have asked parents to consider helping purchase school supplies. They have posted their “wish lists” on a website, DonorsChoose.org. Here’s how it works: Teachers post classroom project requests on the website. At Edna Brewer, we have two teachers with class projects – sets of high interest reading books so groups of kids can read the same book together – and Environmental Science class materials.
Log on to www.DonorsChoose.org. On the right hand side, choose the state of California, the city of Oakland and Edna Brewer school to learn more about what our teachers are requesting. Donations are tracked, and you can learn more about each project. You’ll get photos of your project taking place, a thank-you letter from the teacher, and a cost report showing how each dollar was spent. If you give over $100, you’ll also receive hand-written thank-you letters from the students.
THE TIME IS NOW! It’s October and Box Tops collection time is in full force!! Please bring your Box Tops to the office, and deposit them into the collection box, OR put them in an envelope and leave them in the PTSA mailbox!
It’s car wash season at Edna Brewer! Starting this SATURDAY, SEPT. 25, the 8th-graders will set a high bar for fall fundraising with the first car wash of the year. You’ve had two years to practice, so students and parents, come on out and wash those cars! Everyone else, BRING YOUR DIRTY CAR, VAN, or TRUCK! Volunteers needed 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. CAR WASH IS OPEN 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Donations benefit promotion activities for our 8th graders to leave Brewer in style!

Wait — don’t wash your car this weekend! SAVE THE DATE for the 8th grade car wash on Saturday, September 25 from 9am to 1 pm in the Brewer upper field. Volunteers needed for 8th grade car wash!
Every year, each grade level holds a car wash fundraiser. A quick planning discussion will be held on Thursday, September 16 from 6-6:30pm in the library for the upcoming car washes. This meeting will layout next steps and tasks for each of the three events (8th grade car wash, 7th grade car wash, and 6th grade car wash), as well as provide an “Orientation” to 6th grade parents wanting to participate in the event.
It’s easy if you shop at Safeway. Sign up for eScrip! This is a great fundraiser for the PTSA. It’s safe and easy to participate: You earn money for EBMS just by doing your regular grocery shopping. If you are registered at your child’s previous school, transfer or add EBMS to your contribution list. Grandparents, other relatives, or friends can also participate, so feel free to forward this message to them.

We all shop for groceries, and you can turn those shopping trips into easy cash for Edna Brewer. Just look for the Box Tops 4 Education logo on hundreds of products like Cheerios, Hamburger Helper and Kleenex, in almost every aisle of the store. All you need to do is clip and send them to your child’s classroom – each one is worth 10¢ for Edna Brewer, and it definitely adds up.
