Ride for a Reason is just two weeks away.
We’re riding to Sacramento to show how important public schools are and to rally in Sacramento to fund our students — California’s greatest natural resource. You can still register for the ride for one more week if you want to join the fun, or you can sponsor a student or teacher rider in the list below. This ride raises more than $100,000 each year for 7 Oakland public schools including Edna Brewer.

Don’t just spin your wheels – Ride to Sacramento!
Make a difference in our community: connect with other Oakland families to pedal for education. Ride for a Reason is an annual bike ride from Oakland to Sacramento to draw attention to the ongoing K-12 education funding crisis, and also to raise funds for Oakland school enrichment programs. Last year, 260 riders pedaled to Sacramento and raised $106,000 which was shared by six local Oakland public schools. Join us for the 9th annual Ride for a Reason on Saturday, April 29, 2017.
We have 85 registered riders so far and we’d love to have you with us.
This year, we have three rides to choose from: 45, 68, and 110 miles. We provide all the support you will need to go the distance on April 29th, including training rides and coaching. We encourage all riders to raise $250 or more in pledges, but the only real requirement is to ride. To get more detailed information or to register, check out r4rschools.com

“Screenagers” Family Movie Night, January 19th, 6:30 pm at Edna Brewer (Panther Playhouse)
Screenagers addresses the most pervasive parenting issue of our time, depicting teen struggles over social media, video games and internet addiction. The film empowers kids to navigate the digital world and provides parents resources to help them do it.
(if $$ is a challenge for you, please see info on the form)
“Screenagers is a very balanced, sympathetic and sane look at the way millions of teens are struggling with phones and games and technology in general. In part by letting the teens themselves speak about their own concerns and solutions.” — Dave Eggers, Author
