Be a Brewer Volunteer!

Edna Brewer is a great school, but together we can make it even better if we all “Do One Thing!” each yearThe PTSA and its volunteers provide Edna Brewer with key resources for the events and activities which make it a great place for our students to learn and grow.  Please do your part!

Here’s a good way to start:

  • Attend one of our PTSA meetings and learn how you can better support your student. For dates, please see our school calendar. We look forward to seeing you at an upcoming meeting!
  • Sign up for the Brewer Blast (our weekly online newsletter) and follow “Edna Brewer Middle School” on Facebook to keep abreast of current volunteer opportunities.
  • Join the “PTSA” group on Schoology and set it to receive notifications.

Opportunities to Participate (alphabetical order):

Burger & Bingo Night programs@ednabrewer.net

One of Brewer’s most exciting community events is Burger & Bingo night.  Have fun organizing the event with teachers and other parents, and then enjoy an evening of food and fun with teachers and Brewer families. This is a fall event.

Career Day alice.philips@ousd.org

Professionals from our community engage our students through interactive presentations. One of them could be you! Or a friend or relative! Do not underestimate the impact that your story and insights may have on the life of a student. The students benefit so much from knowing that there are options for them, and they learn from your experience in life.

Culture Night  alice.philips@ousd.org

Contact Ms. Philips to help with our yearly multi-cultural pot luck and talent showcase!

Drama jana.maiuri@ousd.org

Help with drama at Edna Brewer.  Be part of making something extraordinary happen at the school this year!

Fundraising  fundraising@ednabrewer.net

Fundraising is a top priority and we can’t do it without your help! The money that our PTSA raises each year will help fund our highly-acclaimed music program and our dramatic and visual arts programs, teacher stipends for class supplies, teacher mini-grants, 8th grade promotion activities, field trips, peer tutoring, after-school programs, school beautification, student advancement activities, teacher appreciation, healthy snacks for kids, and more.

Music music@ednabrewer.net

Assist our music teachers Zack Pitt-Smith and  Stephanie Holmes with the Yoshi’s fundraiser, Orchestra Fundraisers, classroom volunteer recruitment (including  musicians to act as student mentors), and administrative tasks .

Pride Store programs@ednabrewer.net

We are currently seeking Pride Store Co-Chairs. On alternate Fridays at lunch, kids will have a chance to redeem Pride Tickets they have earned by demonstrating positive behavior while on campus for snacks and prizes (*two* items of any ticket value). The Pride Store relies on volunteers, and it’s a great way to meet students and staff.

Prospective Student Outreach tours@ednabrewer.net

Help organize, or be a volunteer tour guide for our fall school tours for prospective families.

Teacher Support liaisons@ednabrewer.net

Send Margaret your email if you would like to be informed of ways you can support your child’s school family. The teacher support group is designed to help promote communication between teachers and Brewer families. Volunteers will help in student’s grade-level “family” and will provide support to teachers such as organizing field trips, coordinating donations of classroom supplies, assisting with special projects, and so on.

Teacher Appreciation teacherappreciation@ednabrewer.net

Join parents to show our appreciation and support for our teachers throughout the school year.  We provide snacks to teachers at their combined monthly meeting – the second Monday of every month, and other special events.
